Last night, Colbert had a guest from thelivingroomcandidate.org, a website that has all the old presidential TV ads back to 1952. They showed the famous daisy ad from 1964. As the mushroom cloud emerges from the little girl's eye, Lyndon is the voice from the grave.
These are the stakes: To make a world in which all of God's children can live or to go into the dark. We must either love each other, or we must die.
Colbert and his guest chuckled.
As things fall apart, no one pays much attention.
Jesus Buddha and the space between us that does not exist, maybe it's something as small as a prayer that will save us.

I wonder how that fit into Johnson's Vietnam policies?
Lyndon's Vietnam polices provide one of many unfortunately excellent examples of the powerful truth of the warning that his ghost is speaking. What Lyndon believed in his heart about those words then, is less important than what beliefs we hold in our hearts now, although his agony over the Vietnam War and his passion for civil rights tell that some part of Johnson actually believed what he spoke.
I loved the talking heads video, watch it.
We need some more simple kick--- TV commercials for the Democratic candidate in '08. The right is always trying to scare people into voting for them. We on the left are really scared of those on the right; we just need to translate that into misinformedcouchpotato for an ad.
I was struck by the different times we live in. A candidate would never say we have to love each other these days.
